U of A plans to offer new degree in Artificial Intelligence
The University of Arizona is poised to introduce two new Bachelor of Science programs in Artificial Intelligence and Neuroscience for fall 2024, pending approval by the Arizona Board of Regents. These programs are strategically designed to place the university at the forefront of emerging academic fields and to meet the increasing demand for advanced educational opportunities in technology and science. The AI program, intended to be housed within the Department of Computer Science, will focus on developing systems that can transform both unstructured and structured data into intelligent decisions, covering applications from autonomous vehicles to smart appliances. The Neuroscience program will be based in the Department of Neuroscience and the College of Science, preparing students for diverse careers in medical, biotech, and research fields, with an emphasis on the molecular to cellular mechanisms of nervous systems. Both programs are expected to draw significant interest due to their innovative curricula and the growing market needs in these fields.
