The University of Arizona's AI Hardware Design League invited students to integrate artificial intelligence into microchip design, bridging the gap between AI and hardware innovation. Electrical engineering student Sean Rice, who won overall design, used AI to collaboratively troubleshoot and develop a functional digital watch with advanced features. “Using AI to create a real piece of technology that can be implemented in the physical world was really interesting,” Rice said. Designed by Professor Soheil Salehi, the competition aims to grow Arizona’s AI and semiconductor workforce and demonstrate the powerful role AI can play in accelerating design, development, and innovation.
