Iqbal Hossain, director of research data science in the University of Arizona Office for Research, Innovation and Impact, explains how the development of the university's Knowledge Map allows researchers to collect, connect and analyze many forms of metadata – publications, proposals, grants, patents, courses, biographies of researchers, resumes, research projects, labs, etc. – and make it useful for journalists, community members, industry partners and prospective students.
