Experts Highlight AI's Potential to Enhance ILD Diagnostic Accuracy Amid Limitations
Oct. 7, 2024
At the CHEST 2024 annual meeting in Boston, experts explored the potential for artificial intelligence (AI) to boost diagnostic accuracy for interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) despite its current limitations. In the session "AI in ILD Imaging: The Future is Here," Dr. Michael Morris, associate professor at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, highlighted that while senior radiologists typically achieve around 80% diagnostic accuracy, AI could play a crucial role in bridging this gap. AI algorithms, he explained, offer radiologists powerful tools to integrate imaging with clinical data, democratizing access to accurate ILD diagnoses across diverse healthcare settings.
